Ballad Poem - Charlotte Ann

Today we learned about a ballad poem. A ballad poem is a poem that tell a story. Tai,
Coree, Jonathan, Carl and I work really hard to answer the questions. We learned a
lot about the work in 1900's, I learned that many people criticise women in 1900's.
Many people  said that women can't do what men can do, But Charlotte Anne prove
that women can do what men can do.

New Zealand Jobs In 1870

Today we learnt about Jobs in New Zealand during 1870. In that time there is no equality to women and man. Many people said that women cant do what men can do, but Charlotte Anne prove that women can do what men can do. There is lots of jobs for men but not for women.

Samoan Language week

Samoa Tattoo
How Samoa's make
            tatau

What kind of material do they have to make tattoo

Samoans use sticks with sharp brushes that have ink on them and stabs it through the skin of the patient that will start coursing blood to come out and that there would be other people that will rub out the blood and one person uses a towel to rub out the blood.

Samoans use different types of material to make the tattoo. The materials they use are these types of sticks connected to a sharp brush and the other material is a 60-50 cm long stick that bangs the sharpen brush that makes the ink come out.

Money problem

This week for maths we are busy finishing off work and posting it on our blog. For one of our maths task we were given a maths problem about salary. I worked collaboratively with Sanujan, Jack and Julian. At first we were doubting each other of which answers we were right or wrong. Then we went over the maths problem with Ms Kirkpatrick. At the end we were all wrong but we learnt a lesson by Occam Razor that If there is no evidence to the contrary, the simplest answer is correct. In this problem we tried to add up all the big numbers without using the calculator and and after we've got our answers it turned out to be right. I think next time we need to agree with each others opinions.

The ways back to school

Today I was working with no one so Jack, Sanujan and Ofa helped me to complete my rich task. For the rich task we had to see what is the most likely thing to travel the most likely for the primary is the car and the secondary one is bus because they are more trustworthy and they are not baby. The reason the primary kids go with their mothers because they are usually stay at home mothers and they don't trust them to go on the bus by themselves.

Kiwi Sport

Today during Kiwi sport (Which is Rippa Rugby) at first group B was split up into two groups and in those groups we played a mock game, one side had bibs and the other didn't. After that we were line up in three line and together we needed to pass the rugby ball up and down as fast as we could. It started raining during the ball passing lesson so we moved into the hall where still in our three groups, we played games of Rugby-Netball and Touch-Rugby. For Rugby-Netball when you were passed the ball you couldn't move, so if you did get the ball you were swarmed. And for Touch-Rugby you could run with the ball and only be stopped by a person in the opposition touched you with both hands at the same time.

Kiwi can

Today we went to kiwi can and we also played some activities that included integrity we played the clapping game it is when  miss lily crosses her hands over each other. and the second activity was that we had to talk about bad and good decisions and the last one was my favorite we played hand soccer. I liked todays kiwi can because we played hand soccer it was the best.

String measurement

Today I got measured and the measurement was that the width of the arm span is the same length as your body and that hypothesis was right. So first you grab a long piece of string that is the same length as your arm from the one fingertip to the other.  Then you use it to measure your height. They are the same! This activity is really fun and interesting to do.

Summer and Winter poem

Summer
I fled out of my bed with delight the sky glistened and shined with delight. I galloped outside the door and speed
off to the fantastic and astounding location called school. I was full of glee and delight and it was a sight. Then
the world arises from its slumber.

Winter
I leaped out of my bed and drag myself and looked out the window and as I looked outside I saw the doomsday
brought among us and it is called winter I groaned and moaned as I had to get changed I shivered and shock
faster than the flash and felt like antarctica was all around me. The world screeched in despera as it fell deeper
and deeper into its deep sleep.

Today we have been doing poetry and we have also been writing our own one it was supposed to include what we would do in summer to get up and go to school and we also wrote what we would do in the winter. We also used nice culoses words that are more likely to be used. We also were looking at juxtaposition

The English Language

L.I. Language features - End rhyme
Parts of speech - Homonyms

Some people say that you’re a dear,
yet dear is far from cheap.
A jumper is a thing you wear.
yet a jumper has to leap.
It’s very clear it’s very queer,
and pray who’s to blame
for different meanings to some words
pronounced and spelt the same?
A little journey is a trip,
a trip is when you fall.
It doesn’t mean you have to dance
whene’er you hold a ball.
Now here’s a thing that puzzles me:
musicians of good taste
will very often form a band -
I’ve got one round my waist!

Harry Helmsley

Words that look the same but have different meanings are called?

Write out three pairs from the poem.

Maori Legend Storyboard

This week for inquiry the task was to create a storyboard about the Maori creation legend, according to the legends after Tane Mahuta and his brothers prised his parents apart they set out to create everything in the world. After they'd finished they then realised that there were no people to enjoy what they'd created, so Tane Mahuta offered his idea of creating a woman. The other brothers agreed with him so Tane Mahuta sculpted the woman, afterwards one brother told Tane Mahuta to take his breath and give the sculpture life. So that's how the first woman was created. We were allowed to work in groups so I worked with Alex.

Sailing Experience

Yesterday 23 students went to a sailing club for a school trip, I was lucky enough to be one of them. When we first arrived we were told how to stay safe while in the water, after that we were shown how to assemble the rafts so that we could assemble our own to sail in. After that we were given wet suits, life jackets and water proof vests. The process to getting the rafts into the water was to push your raft into the water with your partner and then one of the two of you needs to hold the raft while the other takes the trailer back. When in the water we were told to follow the motor boat around the harbour. After 2-3 hours of different games. capsizing, falling and being pushed into the water it was time to leave.

The Unfinished Drink

Yesterday we had read a narrative poem and the poem tells a fascinating story about a man how went to the war and died but asked a man to keep a drink safe a sound until he returned by in action he died during the war. Today the bottle stands in a glass container surrounded with poppies.
